that president obama gave in 2009 in cairo when he talked about his desire to recalibrate the relationship between the united states and the muslim world or the arab world, where does that re-calibration stand as we now watch the images coming from many of these cities? >> it must be extremely ironic for the president who went to cairo to call for a new beginning with the muslim world to see that his policies are in tatters right now, and not necessarily because of his actions, although he's blamed now because he failed to solve the arab-israeli conflict and all that. that tells you that this is not essentially about the united states policy or about president barack obama. it's about what's taking place in those societies, and i think the president and the secretary of state will make a mistake if they make it a religious issue. we are not engaged in theological disputations with these people. this is role politics, and when the president talks about islam or judaism or christianity, we are playing their game. this should not be the game. the game should be that your societies have seriou
